Our yard sale exemplifies the culture we have at KW; and what an amazing group of people we have; without whom our lives would be very different.
Despite the rain, torrential at times, and the hail, the size of golf balls, we raised an amazing $1853.00! More importantly we personified what a TEAM is. There were so many who gave of their time and we are grateful to each and every one of you. There are a few notables that definitely need to be acknowledged . . . in no particular order.
Our day started off right with Jason Gavadza . Jason drove to feed the volunteers starting at 6 a.m.! He made blueberry
and chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, orange
juice, . . . and best of all he cleaned up the kitchen when breakfast
was over. Jason, that warm food in our bellies was such a life saver;
can’t imagine how we would have survived the storm ahead without the
sustenance, THANK YOU!
The Die Hard Group: Gina Roman, Helen Mason, Mike Machado, Daniel Gilbert, Romeo Falconi, Steve Walker, and John Poole There are no words to describe the synergy of this group of people, whom without this event simply would not have happened. This group worked tirelessly from 3pm to midnight Friday night and from 6:30 am to 3 pm on Saturday. A highlight was seeing Mike “the Monkey” Machado scale the sides of the truck to secure the 30 foot tarp; a tarp that was invaluable to the success of our sale. Never underestimate the many talents of our agents! THANKS TO YOU ALL!
Don Sutherland came to drop off a load of donations and ended up staying and blowing up over 175 balloons! He then returned on Saturday to help with clean up; it’s amazing what fit in his truck and trailer to haul away all the unsold items to Value Village and elsewhere. We have no idea what we would have done without your help. You were a life saver Don, THANK YOU!
Francesca Groves, always the fashionable and graceful one, despite the less than ideal conditions. Francesca remained calm and helped guide all the volunteers through the expected and not so expected. THANKS for all your experience and perseverance!
Wavers: Neil Riach, Ron Justein, Carlo Sconza, and Jamie Purvis braved the rain and hail to lure people to our sale; I’m sure a few must have taken pity on them, thank goodness for that.
Table Crew: Zan Molko, Elspeth Simpson, Charmaine Huculak (our honorary KWRR member), Mikki Fish, Barb Zaldin, Janice Glover, Helen Mason, and Gina Roman all honed their negotiation skills, especially at the $.25 tables .Their salesmanship was world class the whole day.
Set-up, Signage and Clean-up crews included Trevor Rodrigues, Maryann Gutierez, Jaime Wagg, and Ashley Medeiros, all rolled up their sleeves and some even pulled out the shovels to clean up the hail. Oh the memories we’ll have!
Danny Torres on behalf of the Social Committee did a wonderful job feeding the hungry shoppers with all proceeds from the sale donated to KW Cares. That’s what we call teamwork . . . and the merriment on the side didn’t hurt either!
Rob Frasson came sporting his “golf attire’ in the hopes of promoting the upcoming Golf Tournament on May 26th, only to quickly change into jeans to lend a helping hand for the whole day. Let’s all try to make the Golf Tournament an equally huge success. Call Jaime Wagg and register today. Let’s hope they have sunny skies; tickets for 18 holes, cart, and lunch are $109.
A final special thank you to Pat McQueenie, (Glenn’s mother) who came to help out; and showed us that wisdom goes a long way. She was one tough negotiator....guess Glenn comes by it honestly!
